Dr. Marcos Rivera found his teaching voice on the floor of a busy Level I trauma unit—coaching overwhelmed students through their first med pass while ensuring real-time safety for patients. The experience convinced him that better instruction isn’t about knowing more, it’s about knowing how to guide.

With dual graduate degrees in education and nursing, Dr. Rivera specializes in experiential learning, simulation fidelity, and performance-based assessment. He’s led initiatives on high-fidelity simulation across ADN and BSN programs, incorporating real-time delegation challenges, EHR charting practice, and post-code debriefs that mirror NGN item logic.

A Certified Nurse Educator in the clinical setting (CNEcl), he sees the NCLEX not as a barrier, but a benchmark. “When you teach for the real world, you’re already preparing students for the exam,” he says.

His workshops often focus on NGN readiness, clinical judgment mapping, and building feedback culture among faculty. Whether he's debriefing a simulation or coaching through test anxiety, students appreciate his calm, Socratic approach.
